The Dogs Wiki is a free reference guide to dog breeds, health, training, nutrition, behavior, grooming, and adoption. We write for owners and future owners who want a straight answer, not a sales pitch, backed by sources you can check for yourself.
What we cover
Our breed profiles work from the official American Kennel Club breed standard for each breed, citing the exact standard, its approval date, and the breed’s current AKC popularity ranking. Where a figure, a health risk, or a historical claim can be checked against a published source, we check it before we publish it.
Alongside breed profiles, we are building out guides to dog health, training, nutrition, behavior, grooming, adoption, puppies, anatomy, history, sports, and products, each one written and checked the same way.
How we work
Every article states its sources inline rather than in a generic “sources” list at the bottom. When we are not certain of a fact, we say so rather than guessing. When new information changes what we know, we update the article rather than leaving it to go stale.
We are not veterinarians, and nothing on this site replaces a diagnosis or treatment plan from your own vet. Where a topic involves a dog’s health, we say when a vet visit is the right next step.
